Elias’s Strawberry Lemonade

August 2, 2010

Elias makes all kinds of fresh juices. Some of them (carrot-raspberry juice, anyone?) make me turn up my nose and run away. But there are others that are oh-so-perfect. Fresh limeade and lemonade are my favorites. The other day we had some strawberries that were at their peak and Elias threw them in to the lemonade. Heavenly.  So so heavenly. Elias makes the juices very sweet and light and blends them until they are frothy. After they sit for awhile they begin to separate (see the second picture) but they are still wonderful and delicious. If you like, strain out the seeds. We never bother.  I jazzed up the presentation of this one by running a cut strawberry around the rim and dipping it in sugar and leaving the strawberry on. It made for a lovely summer indulgence.

The recipe for this is a nice “starting off point.” Try the proportions and see how you like it. Start with the lower amount of sugar and add more to suit your taste.

Elias’s Strawberry Lemonade,  serves 2

6-8 large strawberries, quartered

2 cups water

Juice of two lemons

9 ice cubes

1-2 TBS sugar

Procedure: Add all ingredients to blender and blend until smooth. Taste and adjust sugar as needed.

That sounds interesting, fusion of strawberry and lemon flavor, I thinks it’s worth a try. It actually looks really pretty.:)
I think my kids are going to love this, especially my only girl who simply loves anything that is pink, lol!
